Pomodoro RPG

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a pomodoro, from the Italian word for 'tomato', after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo used as a university student.

The 5 Steps of the Pomodoro Technique

  1. Decide on the task to be done.
  2. Set the pomodoro timer (you can use our Pomodoro RPG timer for this!).
  3. Work on the task.
  4. End work when the timer rings and take a short break (typically 5–10 minutes).
  5. After four pomodoros, take a longer break (typically 20–30 minutes).

Why It Works

The technique is effective because it helps you resist all of those self-interruptions and re-train your brains to focus. Each pomodoro is dedicated to one task and each break is a chance to reset and bring your attention back to what you should be working on.
